Avoid The Acts Of The Flesh

Theme for the Week: MATURING DISCIPLES MUST AVOID FILTHY LIFESTYLES AND WALK AS CHILDREN OF LIGHT

Reading: Galatians 5:19-21
_______________________

‭Galatians 5:19 NIV‬
[19] The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery;

The acts of the flesh are often tempting because they appeal to our base desires and provide temporary satisfaction.

However, they ultimately lead to destruction, both in our own lives and in our relationships with others. They create division, foster anger and resentment, and pull us further away from the life that God intends for us.

To avoid the acts of the flesh, we must be intentional in our spiritual disciplines—daily prayer, studying God’s Word, and surrounding ourselves with godly influences.
Stay blessed. Shalom.

Let's Pray:
Heavenly Father, we thank You. Lord, help us to avoid the acts of the flesh and to walk in the Spirit, bearing the fruit that reflects Your character, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Bear Fruit Of Light

Theme for the Week: MATURING DISCIPLES MUST AVOID FILTHY LIFESTYLES AND WALK AS CHILDREN OF LIGHT

Reading: Ephesians 5:8-11
_______________________

‭Ephesians 5:8 NIV‬
[8] For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light

Bearing the fruit of light is a reflection of our identity in Christ Jesus, demonstrating our transformation from darkness to light.

The fruit of light is not just about avoiding evil, but also about cultivating goodness, righteousness, and truth in our lives.

As children of light, we must not only avoid participating in sinful activities but also expose them for what they are, striving to align our lives with what pleases God.
Shalom.

Let's Pray:
Heavenly Father, we praise You. Lord, help us to live as true children of light, bearing the fruit of goodness, righteousness, and truth, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Do Not Associate With The Ungodly

Theme for the Week: MATURING DISCIPLES MUST AVOID FILTHY LIFESTYLES AND WALK AS CHILDREN OF LIGHT

Reading: Psalms 1:1-4
_______________________

‭Psalms 1:1 NIV‬
[1] Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers,

We must be mindful of the environments we put ourselves in and the relationships we cultivate as children of the light.

We must avoid filthy lifestyles that can lead us astray and instead, walk in the ways of righteousness.

As maturing disciples, let us choose our associations wisely. Let us surround ourselves with those who seek to honor God, who encourage us in righteousness, and who spur us on to greater love and good deeds.
Shalom.

Let's Pray:
Heavenly Father, we praise You. Lord, help us to be discerning in our relationships and to avoid the influence of the ungodly, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Remove The Filthy Garment

Theme for the Week: MATURING DISCIPLES MUST AVOID FILTHY LIFESTYLES AND WALK AS CHILDREN OF LIGHT

Reading: Zechariah 3:1-7
_______________________

Zechariah 3:3 NIV‬
[3] Now Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes as he stood before the angel.

God has already made provision for our cleansing through Jesus Christ, but we must be willing to let go of the filthy garments—those habits, thoughts, and actions that are contrary to His will.

When we remove the filthy garments, we are positioned to walk in the authority and purpose that God has prepared for us.

Let us, therefore, be diligent in removing anything that hinders our walk with God, embracing the righteousness that He offers and living as true children of light, reflecting His glory in all we do.
Shalom.

Let's Pray:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your grace that removes our filthy garments and clothes us in Your righteousness. Help us to daily rid ourselves of anything that stains our lives and hinders our relationship with You, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Avoid Violence

Theme for the Week: MATURING DISCIPLES MUST AVOID FILTHY LIFESTYLES AND WALK AS CHILDREN OF LIGHT

Reading: Proverbs 16:28-30
_______________________

‭Proverbs 16:29 NIV‬
[29] A violent person entices their neighbor and leads them down a path that is not good.

Violence, in its various forms, is the opposite of the peace and unity that God desires for His people. It can manifest not just in physical acts, but also in our words, attitudes, and even our thoughts.

Whether it's spreading gossip that tears down others, harboring anger that leads to conflict, or engaging in harmful behavior that promotes discord, violence has no place in the life of a disciple of Christ.

As children of light, we are called to be peacemakers, thus we must have a conscious effort to reject any temptation to retaliate, harm, or sow discord, choosing instead to walk in love, kindness, and self-control.
Shalom.

Let's Pray:
Heavenly Father, we praise You. LORD God, we ask for Your strength and wisdom to avoid all forms of violence in our lives, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Get Rid of All Moral Filth

Theme for the Week: MATURING DISCIPLES MUST AVOID FILTHY LIFESTYLES AND WALK AS CHILDREN OF LIGHT

Reading: James 1:19-21
_______________________

‭James 1:21 NIV‬
[21] Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

Moral filth can take many forms—whether it's the things we entertain ourselves with, the words we speak, or the attitudes we harbor in our hearts.

Getting rid of all moral filth is essential for anyone who desires to walk as a child of light.

This requires a commitment to purity, a willingness to be corrected by God's Word, and a humble spirit that seeks to be continually molded by His truth.
Stay blessed.

Let's Pray:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your Word that guides us and reveals the areas in our lives that need to change. Help us to rid ourselves of all moral filth and to live in purity as Your children of light. Amen.

Maturing Disciples Must Avoid Filthy Lifestyles And Walk As Children Of Light

Theme for the Week: MATURING DISCIPLES MUST AVOID FILTHY LIFESTYLES AND WALK AS CHILDREN OF LIGHT

Reading: Ephesians 5:3-10
_______________________

‭Ephesians 5:3 NIV‬
[3] But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.

As disciples of Christ, we must avoid sinful lifestyles and live as children of light. We are called to reflect God's holiness by rejecting immorality, impurity and greed.

Walking as children of light involves making choices that please God, displaying goodness, righteousness, and truth.

This call to holiness is about living in the identity that we have received in Christ. We are no longer children of darkness; we have been redeemed and brought into the light.
Halleluyah!

Let's Pray:
Heavenly Father, we praise You. Lord, help us walk as children of light, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Love Never Fails

Theme for the Week: MATURING DISCIPLES MUST BE IMITATORS OF GOD'S LOVE IN CHRIST

Reading: 1 Corinthians 13:6-8
_______________________

‭1 Corinthians 13:8 NIV‬
[8] Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

Christ's love is unfailing, steadfast, rejoices in truth, and endures all things, never giving up even in difficult times, a love we are called to imitate as Christians.

True love, rooted in God, never fails and is a powerful testimony to His enduring love.

Beloved friend, let us commit to loving with the same steadfastness that Christ loves us, knowing that this love will never fail.

Let's Pray:
Heavenly Father, we praise You. Lord, help us to persevere in love, rejoicing in truth and bearing all things, so that we may reflect Your enduring love to the world, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Love Is Not Self-seeking

Theme for the Week: MATURING DISCIPLES MUST BE IMITATORS OF GOD'S LOVE IN CHRIST

Reading: 1 Corinthians 13:4-5
_______________________

‭1 Corinthians 13:5 NIV‬
[5] It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

We are called to imitate Christ's love, which is not self-seeking a maturing disciples.

Paul describes love as patient, kind, and selfless, never insisting on its own way.
This Christ-like love challenges us to put others' needs before our own and to serve with humility.

By embodying this selfless love, we grow in our discipleship and reflect the heart of Christ to the world.
Stay blessed.

Let's Pray:
Heavenly Father, we praise You. Lord, help us to put others before ourselves, reflecting Your patience, kindness, and humility in all we do, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Complete Christian Life

Theme for the Week: MATURING DISCIPLES MUST BE IMITATORS OF GOD'S LOVE IN CHRIST

Reading: 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
_______________________

‭1 Corinthians 13:3 NIV‬
[3] If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

A complete Christian life is rooted in love. Without love, even the greatest spiritual gifts and acts of faith are meaningless.

Love gives purpose and value to everything we do as disciples of Christ.

As we mature in our faith, we must ensure that all our actions are motivated by genuine love, reflecting Christ’s heart.
Halleluyah!

Let's Pray:
Heavenly Father, we praise You. Lord, help us to anchor our lives in Your love, in Jesus' name. Amen.

The Command To Love

Theme for the Week: MATURING DISCIPLES MUST BE IMITATORS OF GOD'S LOVE IN CHRIST

Reading: John 15:12-13
_______________________

‭John 15:12 NIV‬
[12] My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.

Jesus commanded us to love one another as He has loved us, with a sacrificial and selfless love. He sets the ultimate example of love by laying down His life for us.

This command is central to our discipleship, calling us to reflect Christ’s love through our actions, even when it requires personal sacrifice.

By following this command, we grow in maturity and become true reflections of His love to the world.

Let's Pray:
Heavenly Father, we thank You. Lord, may our lives reflect Your love in all that we do, bringing glory to You and drawing others to Your grace, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Love God, Love Your Neighbor

Theme for the Week: MATURING DISCIPLES MUST BE IMITATORS OF GOD'S LOVE IN CHRIST

Reading: 1 John 4:19-21
_______________________

‭1 John 4:21 NIV‬
[21] And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.

As maturing disciples, our love for God must be reflected in how we love our neighbors. Claiming to love God while failing to love others is inconsistent with true discipleship.

God's love for us should overflow into our relationships, prompting us to extend grace and compassion to everyone.

Loving our neighbors is the evidence of our genuine love for God. Let us show our love for God by loving our neighbors, even those difficult to love.
Shalom.

Let's Pray:
Heavenly Father, we praise You. Lord, help us to live out our love for You by showing genuine love and compassion to those around us., in Jesus' name. Amen.

Whoever Lives In Love Lives In God

Theme for the Week: MATURING DISCIPLES MUST BE IMITATORS OF GOD'S LOVE IN CHRIST

Reading: 1 John 4:16-18
_______________________

‭1 John 4:16 NIV‬
[16] And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.

As maturing disciples, we are called to live in God’s love, reflecting His nature in all we do. To live in love is to live in God, and this love casts out fear, empowering us to live boldly for Christ.

Abiding in God's love transforms our hearts, making us more like Jesus and enabling us to love others selflessly.

As we grow in love, we become witnesses of God's grace to the world. Let us make it our goal, then, to abide in this love daily.
Shalom.

Advice To Tax Collectors

Theme for the Week: THE CHRISTIAN AND CIVIL RESPONSIBILITY– CHRISTIANS' OBLIGATION TO PAY TAX

Reading: Luke 3:12-13
_______________________

‭Luke 3:13 NIV‬
[13] “Don’t collect any more than you are required to,” he told them.

John the Baptist advises tax collectors to collect only what is required, emphasizing the importance of honesty and fairness.

His counsel calls for integrity in fulfilling responsibilities and avoiding greed.

As Christians, we are reminded to act justly in all areas of life, reflecting Christ through honesty and righteousness. By doing so, we uphold God's justice in the world.
Stay blessed. Shalom.

Let's Pray:
Heavenly Father, we praise You. Lord, help us to live with integrity and righteousness in all our responsibilities, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Give to Caesar, Give to God

Theme for the Week: THE CHRISTIAN AND CIVIL RESPONSIBILITY– CHRISTIANS' OBLIGATION TO PAY TAX

Reading: Matthew 22:15-22
_______________________

‭Matthew 22:21 NIV‬
[21] “Caesar’s,” they replied. Then he said to them, “So give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.”

Jesus teaches that we must fulfill both our civil and spiritual responsibilities.

Just as the coin bears Caesar’s image, we, as human beings, bear the image of God. Therefore, we are called to give ourselves fully to God—our hearts, minds, souls, and actions.

As Christians, we must balance our obligations to society with our ultimate allegiance to God. By doing so, we honor both earthly authority and God's divine rule.
Shalom.

Let's Pray:
Heavenly Father, we praise You. Lord, help us to honor both our civil and spiritual responsibilities, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Jesus Enjoins And Exemplifies Paying Of Taxes

Theme for the Week: THE CHRISTIAN AND CIVIL RESPONSIBILITY– CHRISTIANS' OBLIGATION TO PAY TAX

Reading: Matthew 17:24-27
_______________________

‭Matthew 17:27 NIV‬
[27] “But so that we may not cause offense, go to the lake and throw out your line. Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find a four-drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for my tax and yours.”

Jesus exemplifies the importance of paying taxes even though He could have claimed exemption as the Son of God. His humility in fulfilling this civil obligation teaches us to respect and honor our responsibilities within society.

By paying taxes, we show integrity and obedience, trusting that God will provide for our needs.

As followers of Christ, we are called to follow His example in fulfilling our duties with humility and faithfulness.
Selah.

Let's Pray:
Heavenly Father, we praise You. Lord, grant us the grace to follow the example of Christ in all areas of life, including our financial responsibilities, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Tax Seen As Serious Obligation

Theme for the Week: THE CHRISTIAN AND CIVIL RESPONSIBILITY– CHRISTIANS' OBLIGATION TO PAY TAX

Reading: Nehemiah 5:1-4
_______________________

‭Nehemiah 5:4 NIV‬
[4] Still others were saying, “We have had to borrow money to pay the king’s tax on our fields and vineyards.

As Christians, paying taxes is a serious responsibility that reflects our obedience to God’s commands and contributes to the common good.

The story in Nehemiah 5:1-4 reminds us that even in times of financial difficulty, taxes must be seen as a necessary obligation.

While we can advocate for fairness, we are called to fulfill our tax duties faithfully, trusting in God’s provision. By doing so, we honor God and uphold justice in society.
Stay blessed.

Let's Pray:
Heavenly Father, we praise You. Lord, help us to faithfully fulfill our obligations, including the payment of taxes, with a heart of integrity and trust in Your provision, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Arrested For Tax Evasion

Theme for the Week: THE CHRISTIAN AND CIVIL RESPONSIBILITY– CHRISTIANS' OBLIGATION TO PAY TAX

Reading: 2 Kings 17:1-4
_______________________

‭2 Kings 17:3 NIV‬
[3] Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up to attack Hoshea, who had been Shalmaneser’s vassal and had paid him tribute.

Hoshea’s downfall was not just a result of political rebellion but a failure to honor the commitments that were required of him.

Similarly, when we evade taxes or fail to fulfill our financial obligations to the government, we undermine the order and stability that God has established in society. This can lead to severe consequences, both legally and spiritually.

Let us, therefore, learn from Hoshea’s mistake and ensure that we are diligent in meeting our tax obligations.
Shalom.

Percentage To Government

Theme for the Week: THE CHRISTIAN AND CIVIL RESPONSIBILITY– CHRISTIANS' OBLIGATION TO PAY TAX

Reading: Genesis 47:13-26
_______________________

‭Genesis 47:26 NIV‬
[26] So Joseph established it as a law concerning land in Egypt—still in force today—that a fifth of the produce belongs to Pharaoh...

As Christians, we have a responsibility to give a portion of our income to the government, recognizing that this is a biblical principle rooted in God's established order.

Our taxes today support essential services that benefit the entire community—healthcare, education, infrastructure, and security.

Our obedience in this matter reflects our submission to God’s sovereignty and our commitment to the well-being of our community.
Stay blessed.

Let's Pray:
Heavenly Father, we praise You. Lord, help us to faithfully fulfill our responsibilities to the authorities You have placed over us, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Living To Please Christ

Theme for the Week: SOME PRACTICAL MANIFESTATIONS OF THE NEW CHARACTER IN CHRIST – IV

Reading: 2 Corinthians 5:11-15
_______________________

‭2 Corinthians 5:15 NIV‬
[15] And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.

Christ’s love compels us to live differently. When we truly grasp the magnitude of Christ’s sacrifice—that He died for all so that we might live—we are compelled to respond with a life dedicated to pleasing Him.

Our actions, decisions, and even our thoughts should be guided by our desire to honor the One who gave His life for us.

As people transformed by the love of Christ, we are called to surrender our own desires, ambitions, and plans, placing Christ at the center of everything we do, and living not for ourselves, but for Him.
Stay blessed. Shalom.

Let's Pray:
Heavenly Father, we praise You. Lord, teach us to live not for ourselves, but for Him who died and rose again for us, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Guidance For Living As Redeemed People

Theme for the Week: SOME PRACTICAL MANIFESTATIONS OF THE NEW CHARACTER IN CHRIST – IV

Reading: Romans 12:1-2
_______________________

‭Romans 12:1 NIV‬
[1] Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.

As redeemed people, we are to live out our faith in a way that honours God and reflects our new identity in Christ. Our entire being; our thoughts, actions, and desires, should be offered up to God in worship.

The world operates on principles and values that are often contrary to God’s will. We are called to live differently – to resist the pressures and temptations that seek to mold us into the world's image.

As our minds are renewed, our lives will naturally reflect the new character we have in Christ and we will be able to test and approve God’s will; His good, pleasing, and perfect will.
Halleluyah!

Let's Pray:
Heavenly Father, we praise You. Lord, give us the strength to resist the patterns of this world and the wisdom to renew our minds daily in Your truth, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Right Living

Theme for the Week: SOME PRACTICAL MANIFESTATIONS OF THE NEW CHARACTER IN CHRIST – IV

Reading: Romans 13:8-10
_______________________

‭Romans 13:8 NIV‬
[8] Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law.

Right living is fundamentally rooted in love – love for God and love for others. It is so because love is a greater obligation with a perpetual debt that is never fully paid off.

When we love our neighbors as ourselves, we naturally avoid actions that would harm them.

Love is the guiding principle that encompasses and surpasses all other commandments. It is the heart of right living, so let us live and walk in it.
Halleluyah!

Let's Pray:
Heavenly Father, we praise You. Lord, fill our hearts with Your love, and let it overflow in our actions and relationships, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Living The New Life

Theme for the Week: SOME PRACTICAL MANIFESTATIONS OF THE NEW CHARACTER IN CHRIST – IV

Reading: Colossians 3:12-15
_______________________

‭Colossians 3:12 NIV‬
[12] Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

Paul reminds us that we are God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved. Knowing that we are loved and set apart by God motivates us to live in a way that reflects His character.

Also, he calls us to consciously choose to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, embodying these virtues in love through the Holy Spirit.

By living the new life in Christ, adorned with these virtues, we reflect the transformative power of the Gospel and become a light to the world.
Shalom.

Let's Pray:

Following Christ's Example Of Love

Theme for the Week: SOME PRACTICAL MANIFESTATIONS OF THE NEW CHARACTER IN CHRIST – IV

Reading: Ephesians 5:1-2
_______________________

‭Ephesians 5:2 NIV‬
[2] and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Walking in love is not a one-time act but a continuous, daily practice. It involves living a life characterized by love in all our interactions, decisions, and attitudes.

This love is not based on emotions or circumstances but is a deliberate choice to act in the best interests of others, even when it is difficult.

Christ's love was sacrificial, selfless, and unconditional. Thus, let our love be marked by generosity and a willingness to sacrifice.
Selah.

Let's Pray:
Heavenly Father, we praise You. Lord, empower us to love others as Christ loved us, with a sacrificial and selfless love, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Do Not Let Sin Control You

Theme for the Week: SOME PRACTICAL MANIFESTATIONS OF THE NEW CHARACTER IN CHRIST – III

Reading: Romans 6:12-14
_______________________

‭Romans 6:12 NIV‬
[12] Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.

Sin seeks to control and dominate, leading us to obey its evil desires.

Our bodies and our entire beings are meant to glorify God. We must not allow any part of us—whether our minds, our hands, our mouths, or our feet—to be used for sinful purposes.

By not allowing sin to control us and by offering ourselves as instruments of righteousness, we manifest our new character in Christ.
Halleluyah!

Let's Pray:
Heavenly Father, we praise You. Lord, strengthen us to resist sin and to live righteously, offering every part of ourselves to You, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Get Rid Of All Malicious Behaviour

Theme for the Week: SOME PRACTICAL MANIFESTATIONS OF THE NEW CHARACTER IN CHRIST – III

Reading: 1 Peter 2:1-3
_______________________

‭1 Peter 2:1 NIV‬
[1] Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind.

The apostle Peter provides clear instructions on how we should live as believers who have experienced the goodness of the Lord.

Malice refers to a desire to harm others, while deceit involves dishonesty and trickery. Hypocrisy is the act of pretending to be something we are not, envy is a feeling of discontent and resentment toward others, and slander involves speaking ill of others.

We must actively reject these behaviours, craving pure spiritual milk to nourish our souls to live in truth, sincerity, contentment and edification, helping us grow in our salvation.
Stay blessed.

Let's Pray:
Heavenly Father, we thank You. Lord, give us a deep hunger for Your Word, so that we may grow in our salvation and reflect Your character, in Jesus' name. Amen.
