Theme for the Week: THE TRANSFORMED PERSON LIVES FOR THE LORD
Reading: Colossians 2:16-17
Colossians 2:16
Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.
Many Christians are concerned about the Sabbath day as to which day it is. They think of Sunday worship as idolatry, since we know from Hebrewism or Yahwism that Sabbath falls on the last day, not on the "Lord's day" or the first day.
To appreciate the Sabbath day, we must understand thoroughly what God said concerning His Day of rest. In it must you not do anything directly beneficial to yourself, but to the Lord God, thus He said, do no work (see Exo. 20:8-10). This day is to honour Jehovah not us (see Isa. 58:13-14)
This is why when Christ Jesus, the reality of all the shadows of the old covenant came, He taught us to glorify God in all His works on the Sabbath day.
Therefore, dear believer, although Christians worship on Saturdays and Sundays, do not be weighed down by these. Focus on Christ and choose to honour Jehovah in all you do.
Let's Pray
Almighty God, I will honour You at all times. Father, may I be focused on Christ and things that bring glory to You. Amen.
See November 2 for issues on food. Stay blessed.
